Burnt Out From Wellness - 8 Lessons From Starting A Business In Something You Love

First of all, it’s been a hot minute since I wrote my last blog. When I was travelling I found writing them really therapeutic, like a way to show the real behind the scenes of the aesthetically pleasing instagrammable pictures. If there’s one thing you takeaway from reading this, it’s that I’d encourage you to write even if you never intend to let any eyes besides your own see it. It doesn’t matter if it’s digitally, hard copy - whatever you prefer, getting our thoughts out onto paper just is such a useful way to express all of the mumbo jumbo and bullshit going on in every one of our heads. You see trends, you actually progress with ideas, just trust me even if it feels weird, give it a shot "Writing is nature's way of letting you know how sloppy your thinking is" - Dick Guindon It’s been a weird year for me to be honest. In January of 2023 I decided to start my own wellness business, I want to dedicate this blog purely to my experience of this venture, I will come back...

Travel - Patagonia Recommendations

Patagonia Area shared between Argentina & Chile I spent 3 weeks here My route was:  Buenos Aires (flight) > El Calafate (bus) > Puerto Natales (bus) > El Chalten (bus) > Bariloche (flight) > Buenos Aires If you are in South America, make the time to go here  El Calafate (Argentina) - Spent 3 nights here - loads, you could stay 2 - I flew from Buenos Aires to el calafate - I bought ticket online with jet smart but if you go to airport and buy ticket with Fly Bondi you could get it with the blue dollar rate (watch insta video under tips below to explain blue dollar) - Hostel:  - America del Sur - very boujee they changed their prices every day depending on demand which was annoying but it was such a nice hostel with the best living area and kitchen, but small rooms - Things to Do:  - Perito Moreno glacier tour with a one hour boat tour - paid 40€ went downtown to get it don’t book through hostel generally more expensive - if I could go back would do ...

What the Duck Are You Waiting For

When I first left college I didn't know what I wanted to be All I knew was I wanted lots and lots (and lots) of money because money is >= happiness (that's how the old saying goes isn't it?) During my second job I missed out on the first round of promotion. I was gutted, even though I knew I wasn't really doing well I was still gutted When the next chance of a promotion came around and I got it, the feeling was indescribable By god I had lost sleep, hair and probably years off of my life from stress but let me tell you it was worth it! I was finally someone who people wanted to work with rather than someone who people avoided working with I wanted to show off my new promotion like a shiny new gold star on my forehead ⭐ One year later when I got my second promotion things had drastically changed I remember getting the news that I had secured another promotion, except this time I didn't have that feeling of happiness or pride, instead I felt empty and almost guilty...

9 Things I’ve Gained from Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable

I write this from a hammock listening to the waves crashing on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica If you told Maria, the DocuSign Senior Solutions Consultant (aka very important person) this time last year this is how her 2022 November would be looking like for sure she wouldn’t believe you 😂 I remember seeing a friend from Cork on Instagram this time last year posting stories of his trip in South America, I was in such awe and honestly only dreamed of making that trip! I wrote to him asking for tips of how he did it (not thinking I would really go through with it)  Id been in my job 3 years and I felt a bit stuck and was ready for the next thing  When I first was thinking about what to do next I was thinking, I’d 3 options: 1. I could try move abroad with my current company (the most logical, sensible and responsible thing to do - the safe option and the option I ‘should’ do rather than truly deep down wanted to do)  2. Try and find a fully remote job in Europe (2nd most l...

11 Lessons From Solo Backpacking Through South America

A few months ago I decided to take the leap and solo travel around South America (in case you didn’t know lol) ✈️  Since the start of my travels I have learned so much and wanted to share the reality (that at least I have had) versus what you see on instagram  Hopefully this can help anyone else about to take the leap or considering it :)  Everything here speaks purely from my own experience (even though from chatting with other solo backpackers, it seemed a lot of things here resonated with them as well)  Read on if you’re thinking of doing the same or even just curious 😊 Solo Travelling - Is it for You?  If you’ve decided to take the same leap - congrats! It’s an absolute rollercoaster but one I don’t want to get off just yet 😁 If you’re thinking about doing a solo trip but afraid to do it, my advice would be start small - do a trip somewhere yourself for a weekend or week or so to see if you like it My first solo travel was to a yoga retreat in Portugal in ...
